Cooking
or culinary holidays, vacations, tours to Gozo:
Gozo
a land full of history and with
a very diverse culture
Gozo,
called Għawdex in Maltese, is the second largest of
the Maltese Islands situated in the centre of the Mediterranean
- 93 km south of Italy and 290 km north of North Africa.
Gozo lies about 5 km to the North West of Malta and
is a twenty-five minute ferry ride away. It enjoys warm
summers and mild winters and this makes it the ideal
holiday destination at any time of the year.
With a population of just over 30,000 Gozo has about
one-twelfth of the overall population of the country
of Malta. When compared to the overall area of the Maltese
Islands, Gozo covers approximately one-third of that
area which means that the island of Gozo is not over
populated, and is greener, quieter and more peaceful
. . . a tranquil have to rest and relax.
The official language is Maltese spoken in a distinct
dialect, that amazingly differs from one village to
another, but English is spoken as the second official
language.
The main Island's sources of income are from tourism,
agriculture and fishing together with a number of small
and medium-sized enterprises. Malta is now served by
an increasing number of low-cost operators making it
cheaper and more accessible than ever before, allowing
people to organise cost-effective short-trips and visits
throughout the year.
